Indie Theatre/Secret Sandy Toy Drive
The Innovative Theatre Foundation is proud to announce that it will once again bring the "Indie Theatre USO" to children and families affected by Hurricane Sandy. The IT Foundation went to Far Rockaway the weekend before Thanksgiving with the Children's Health Fund to spread a little joy to local families who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. We brought teaching artists and crafts to be creative with the kids and for them to take home, and had a wonderful time getting to know them and their parents, and even had the good fortune of seeing some smiles that day.
We will be reprising our "Indie Theatre USO" the weekend before Christmas as part of the "Secret Sandy" project and are now in need of donations of craft supplies. As we were planning it occurred to us that perhaps those companies with productions over the next few weeks would be willing to create donation drop offs in the lobby of their theaters. If this is of interest to you, please email Heather Cunningham at retroprods at gmail dot com and let us know that you would like to participate so that we can make arrangements to pick up all donations by December 21st.
Of particular use are crayons, coloring books, paper, colored pencils, and washable markers.
We know indie theatre audiences are some of the most generous around, and we, and the Innovative Theatre Foundation thank you!
THANK YOUYou can drop off your craft donations at the following readings and performances or contact Heather for more options:
Wide Eyed Winks - December 11 @ 7PM
