Spotlight On: Elizabeth Davis
Last year, the award for Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role went to…Elizabeth Davis! For her role as Emily in An Amethyst Remembrance, presented by Firebone Theatre.
While it is always inspiring to hear back from a recipient whose career is taking flight, of course we would like to think our community was onto this great talent already! This summer Elizabeth played Celemine in the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's production of The Misanthrope and throughout July she was featured in Lincoln Center's commissioned "Portraits in Dramatic Time" by visual artist David Michalek, which projected on an 85 ft by 45 ft screen on the front of the David H. Koch Theatre.
Currently, Elizabeth, is about to open another show, Dally with the Devil by Victor Cahn at the Beckett Theatre on Theatre Row, directed by Eric Parness. Just in time for election season, Dally With The Devil focuses on three women immersed in political intrigue: two officials from opposing campaigns competing to use a powerful blogger to influence the outcome of a Senatorial election. As charges escalate, tactics shift, and the battle swerves in unexpected directions.
Afterwards, Elizabeth will head right back downtown to New York Theatre Workshop to reprise her role as Reza in Once, the same show that she workshopped at Harvard's ART. Once, based on the movie featuring the Oscar-winning song “Falling Slowly,” features Elizabeth on the violin throughout the show! The New York Theatre Workshop's production is directed by John Tiffany.
Dally With The Devil starring Elizabeth Davis, runs through October 8, 2011 at the Beckett Theatre. For more information visit www.DallyWithTheDevil.com.
